Where and When to Shoot at Bonneville Salt Flats

The reflective surface is most effective when wet after rain — check recent precipitation before planning a reflection shoot. The flats are open BLM land with no fee. The surface is firm when dry and manageable for vehicles; check conditions when wet before driving on. Interstate 80 runs along the southern edge — face north or east away from highway lights for the darkest sky.
