Where and When to Shoot in Natural Bridges National Monument

The monument is remote — 40 miles from Blanding, Utah, with no gas or services on site. Plan for overnight camping to make the drive worthwhile. The three bridges (Sipapu, Kachina, Owachomo) are each accessible by short trail from the loop road — scout in remaining twilight to choose your composition.

🌉
Owachomo Bridge
The thinnest and most delicate of the three bridges gives the most dramatic silhouette against the Milky Way. A short, flat trail from the parking area. The bridge arch frames the galactic core when it rises in the south.
🗿
Sipapu Bridge
The largest bridge in the monument gives a massive sandstone arch foreground. The trail descends into the canyon — a more dramatic canyon-floor perspective than the rim viewpoints.
🌌
Kachina Bridge
The youngest and most massive bridge has canyon art (pictographs) on its abutments — the combination of geological and cultural foreground makes it a distinctive subject.
Loop Road Overlooks
Multiple rim overlooks along the 9-mile loop give elevated canyon views without descending to the bridges. Strong for wide compositions showing the canyon depth with the monument's dark sky above.
