Sossusvlei sits deep inside Namib-Naukluft National Park at the heart of the Namib Desert — extreme heat (40°C+ in summer), mid-morning wind that develops as the dunes heat up, and sand abrasion are the primary flight hazards here.

Namib-Naukluft National Park — managed by Namibia's Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism — restricts drone use and requires a permit from NWR (Namibia Wildlife Resorts) or the ministry.
