Spring and fall are the strongest seasons — summer temperatures exceed 110°F at lower elevations. The Chisos Basin at 5,400 feet is significantly cooler. Big Bend's remote location means genuine dark horizons — the galactic core is especially vivid here due to the combination of low latitude, Bortle 1–2 sky, and excellent transparency.
