Paris, France
Sunset · Astrophotography · Drone Flight · Pre-loaded for Paris
The terrace at Trocadéro gives the cleanest straight-on view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. In summer the sun sets to the northwest and golden light falls directly on the tower's iron lattice. A Paris sunset tonight from here when the sky is colored above the tower is one of the most photographed compositions in Europe. Arrive 45 minutes early for a front position — it gets crowded fast.
Check tonight's sunset →The double-deck bridge with its iron columns and metro line above gives a layered composition with the Eiffel Tower framed in the background. Shoot from the lower pedestrian level for the arches framing the tower, or from the upper metro bridge for the Seine and city beyond. Golden hour light on the metalwork is excellent in spring and autumn when the sun tracks at the right angle.
Check golden hour timing →The highest natural point in Paris gives a wide panorama south over the city. The white basilica on the hill catches warm light from the west at golden hour. Shoot the city from the steps or the square behind the basilica for the skyline view. Early morning before 7 AM gives you the hilltop without the crowds and the low-angle light raking across the rooftops below is exceptional in autumn and winter.
Check sky score →The closest dark sky escape from Paris. The sandstone forest landscape gives interesting terrestrial foreground unlike typical field-shooting locations. Not true Milky Way territory but usable for wide-field star work and foreground-rich compositions on new moon nights. About an hour by train from Gare de Lyon. Check Starcast before the trip — moon phase makes or breaks it at Bortle 5–6.
Check Fontainebleau tonight →| Location | Distance | Bortle | Best for | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forêt de Fontainebleau | 60 km south | 5–6 | Quick escape, sandstone foreground | Starcast → |
| Loire Valley | 180 km southwest | 4 | Château foreground, Milky Way core | Starcast → |
