Frequently asked
Will the sunset be good tonight in Death Valley?
The live score above pulls today's forecast and runs it through GoldCast's scoring model. Above 70 is worth going out. Below 40, stay home. The score updates daily.
What makes a good sunset in Death Valley?
Death Valley is one of the most dramatically lit landscapes on earth. The Panamint Range to the west catches the last light while the valley floor — the lowest point in North America — sits in deep shadow, creating a layered light effect unlike anywhere else. Zabriskie Point faces east toward the badlands formations and is best at sunrise, but the Panamint view from Dante's View at sunset is extraordinary. Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes catch low-angle light beautifully in the hour before dark. November through March is the only viable season for comfortable shooting; summer temperatures regularly exceed 120°F.
What time is sunset in Death Valley tonight?
Death Valley sunset ranges from around 4:45 PM in December to 8:00 PM in June. Tonight's exact time is shown in the score card above, updated daily from live weather data.
